WINERIES
Anderson Valley is home to some of California's
finest varietal wines. This area is best-known for
its Pinot Noirs (hence the annual Pinot Noir Festival),
but you can find a wide variety of wines from Chardonnays
to Cabernets to Muscat Blancs. You can plan your
wine-tasting tour by visiting the Anderson Valley
Winegrower's website at www.avwines.com
to learn about the many wineries you can visit.
HENDY WOODS STATE PARK
The park features two virgin redwood groves;
Big Hendy (80 acres, with a self-guided discovery
trail) and Little Hendy (20 acres.) The
Navarro River runs the length of the park. Located
in the middle of the Anderson Valley wine district,
this 845-acre park is warmer and less foggy than redwood
parks along the coast. The park is well known for
a fallen redwood stump that was home for a man known
locally as the Hendy Woods Hermit.
ANDERSON
VALLEY BREWING COMPANY
Anderson Valley's own Micro-Brewery
outgrew their original home below the Buckhorn
Saloon. In their new facility, they give daily brewery
tours. Anderson Valley beers use only the purest
natural ingredients starting with pristine water
from deep wells on the brewery grounds. The Brewing
Company has a visitors center and features a Disc
Golf course!
MENDOCINO
This picturesque coastal hamlet has a unique
mix of upscale galleries, down-home craft and music
stores and all types of restaurants. You can even
head north into Fort Bragg and visit the Mendocino
Coast Botanical Gardens or antique stores. Some
of Northern California's most revered culinary establishments
are located here.
